Safety Training

Employers have a Duty Under the Health & Safety At Work 1974 to provide information, instruction, training and supervision as necessary to ensure that all employees are working safely in a working environment.

Training doesn’t have to be classroom-based wherever possible do a practical training simulation this could be a fire evacuation drill, including arrangements for first-aid.

Construction sites will have an induction training session or learn new employees and self-employed contractors.

Effective Training

Employees need to be trained to be competent in Health & Safety, this will go a long way in cutting down accidents and ill-health on a construction site, reducing lost production time and insurance costs.

Site Induction

A Site Induction is the responsibility of the employer which tells a worker of any known hazards on-site and to carry out risk assessments on all activities which are forms part of the company’s Health & Safety Policy.

Part of the Health & Safety Policy will cover providing and maintaining safe machinery and equipment on-site and providing Personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E.) this will ensure that the employer is providing a safe workplace.

Employees also have Responsibilities under Health & Safety law

Employees must cooperate with their employer in any Health & Safety matters, enabling the employer to fill his obligations under the Health & Safety.

No employee should not misuse or interfere with anything provided for Health & Safety matters.

During any construction activity employees must follow any instructions, read and understand the risk assessments and method statements before starting any work activity and report any dangerous occurrences.

Safety equipment provided by the employer must be used safely by the employee, and not put themselves or others at risk during any work activities.
