Employers have a duty under Safety (Safety Signs and Signals) Regulations 1996. To ensure all hazardous areas or materials have the appropriate safety sign which conforms to the above regulations.
Safety Symbols are standardized symbols or shapes that display information about hazards or safety practices, sometimes without the use of words.
Provide general information and directions.
There are five different types of signs, we are concentrating on the four main types to enable you to pass this section in the knowledge test.
It is the duty of all employees while at work to comply with the following:
Take care at all times and ensure that their actions do not put at ‘risk’ themselves, their workmates or any other person.
Co-operate with their employers to enable them to fulfil the employers’ health and safety duties.
Never misuse or interfere with anything provided for health and safety.
Use the equipment and safeguards provided by the employers.
The 6219 Entry Level and Level 1 Awards, Certificates and Diplomas in Construction Skills, requires candidates to complete a knowledge test on each unit.
